For many years, the property was cared for by dedicated volunteers, who also governed the Foundation. In 1972, they gifted the land to Five Rivers MetroParks and began a unique and successful public (MetroParks) / private (James M. Cox, Jr. Arboretum Foundation) partnership.

Admission is free.

Tours of the grounds can be arranged. Tram service is available for those unable to walk. Call the Arboretum at (937) 434-9005. Advanced notice is required.

School groups interested in guided tours or specialized field trips, please call the Education Coordinator, at (937) 434-9005.

The buildings and gardens all comply and/or exceed ADA standards. There are many paved paths throughout the gardens. Natural trails are not paved.
